Crown Chakra: Sahasrara
How do you meditate?
Meditation can come in many different forms. I like to practice meditation through my breath when I do yoga. I also use the app Calm for a more daily guided practice. Most recently, I have dedicated my meditation to journaling. When life gets complicated, stressful, and anxiety provoking, I believe that it is important to remember to increase your levels of self care and wellness. This can sometimes seem quite difficult, especially in times when you are super busy. But it is in those times that we must be kind to our bodies and brains. Any period of time when you know you are going to increase your normal amounts of stress, whether it be a week, a month, a whole year, due to work or a series of events or travel, make sure to up your dosage of wellness as well.
The crown chakra is supposed to represent serenity and joy in our divine being. In my opinion, the best way to practice this is through daily meditation. We do not have to be an expert yogi to find meaning in our daily lives, we just need to train ourselves to be able to step away, mentally. Step away from the chaos, stress, anxiety, and self judgement. Instead, choose to channel that energy into something that can benefit your body. When feeling anxious, maybe pull out a journal for a few minutes and get those thoughts and feeling out on paper, or maybe open up a meditation app and take a moment to breathe. Remember that this is a practice, though, and will not always be perfect. There is absolutely no “right” or “wrong” when it comes to practicing meditation, just try to be consistent.
